Do you want more for yourself, your family? Or maybe you want to help those less fortunate? These are a few of the more common reasons for seeking other or additional sources of income. If this sounds like a conversation that you have had with yourself well then keep reading. I am going to share some insight, a little education on what lies ahead. Before jumping into a marketing campaign you should understand what a lead is and how it is created.

Some people were born to be marketers. These people can talk to anyone at any time. They feel comfortable standing alone in a group, pitching and selling whatever the flavor of the month is. These types are forever jumping from product line to product line. They talk constantly about what a great product they have and how you cannot live without it in your home. You fell into this I Must Have One Trap. So now you went ahead and ordered the product. By the time that you get the product and actually use it you are contacted by the same sales guy pitching you his next greatest thing that you Must Have. Do you ever wonder how/why this happened? Before you purchased your first product you were given a chance to enter your email name and address, along with some personal information.

Low and behold you have actually given your information to enter a sales funnel. This crafty pitchman convinced you to enter His Sales List. This last bit of information should tell you what is going to happen next. That’s right, this sly pitchman captured you as not only as a lead But His Very Own Personal Lead to take with him wherever he goes next or even to sell to another marketer (another topic that we should discuss further).

This concept is not new; people in all marketing industries have been using this strategy for ages. Before the internet these marketers did whatever they could to secure your home telephone number. Nowadays marketing has gone global with the help of the internet. Can you imagine what doors just opened for this marketer? He just went from standing all day at trade expos, home shows, even standing at the local mall handing out flyers to whoever extended their hand. Today a marketer can create their very own leads, buy their leads or what happens countless times everyday Asks You The Buyer to supply him with your personal email information.

I am not saying that every marketer is a carnival Pitchman selling lotions and potions. This type of marketer gives everyone that markets goods or services a bad reputation. There are marketers that actually want to educate you as they market their services, ideas, or business.

My advice to you:

1). Do not succumb to every sales pitch you get tossed.
2). Do not enter into a business that does not offer educational support.
3.) You are the Boss – educate yourself on the offer being presented.
4). Perform your due diligence BEFORE committing to the product or service.
5). Remember to ask many questions about the product/system and get a feel if they are willing to educate you prior to selling the product.
6). Always ask about an opt out option. If the marketer is not willing to offer you this I would suggest that you look else where. There are better business options out there that will suit your needs better.
7). Look for a product that you would use yourself, a product that you believe in.
8). Look for a mentor in the business that you can follow, someone who you are comfortable talking too, someone who could become a friend to you.
